Acronis True Image Review

True Image, their data, and computer imaging product is the fastest, most powerful backup solution on the market. They develop onsite and cloud backup, disaster recovery, and secure file sync.

Overview:

Acronis is a global tech company with Headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and Singapore. True Image, their data, and computer imaging product is the fastest, most powerful backup solution on the market. They develop onsite and cloud backup, disaster recovery, and secure file sync. All that awesomeness carries with it a bit of a learning curve but it has become more user-friendly (not completely) as the brand evolves.
With Acronis Backup, you can use cloning and mirror imaging to make a duplicate of your system or server. Capture all your data for disk migration or system recovery. You’re empowered to back up a local drive and to the cloud for twice the protection. True Image offers robust backup. Backup files and applications in increments and by file-type. True Image also supports flexible scheduling, pre/post operation commands, email notifications, file share and anytime data access. It has common backup-scheduling options like continual, daily, weekly and monthly. But the final option of ‘Upon Event’ lets you back up files when you log on, log off, start up or shut down your computer.

True Image 2019’s interface is attractive, in a modern, 2D kind of way. It’s much cleaner than it used to be, but it’s still not intuitive. If your a backup pro (or wizard) it’s easy to get up to speed. If not, you’re going to want to watch Acronis’ tutorials or cozy up to a YouTube search on product use.

True Image isn’t the fastest on the market but it’s among the top four. We’re not talking days or even hours but it is at average 5 – 7 minutes slower than the likes of Backdrive or IDrive.
All three versions let you create bootable recovery media with the ability to restore to different hardware. A feature dubbed the “Survival Kit” means you won’t need the same type of hardware from where the backup originated to recover your files.

Pricing:

You can try it for free for 30 days which is pretty cool. Most backup providers only let you test drive for 14 days. The Personal user’s edition of True Image starts with the Standard version which costs $50. Their Standard version acts as a never-ending license. Expect full image backup, active disk cloning, universal restore, and ransomware protection. Buy through their website or on Amazon.
The subscription versions are available only via the Acronis website. The $50 Advanced version, offers 250GB of online storage, end-to-end encryption, and social media backup.
The $100 Premium version offers 1TB of online storage. It also offers blockchain certification and electronic signing of files.
The Advanced and Premium packages are true subscription software. Once the subscription is up, only the restore functions are available if you don’t renew. You can always downgrade to the perpetual license for $30 to regain access to your local backups.

Pros:

The 30 day trial period gives you plenty of time to test drive the speed, the interface, and all it has to offer. Hopefully, you won’t need the survival kit then. There’s nothing backup-related it won’t do, and no option it doesn’t provide. It even provides ransomware protection.

Cons:

Rather expensive and complicated for the average user. Considering the robust backup solutions the CPU usage can be a bit of a bummer and it’s somewhat fast. It just isn’t the fastest.

Conclusion:

Acronis True Image 2019 is at the top of its game when it comes to safeguarding your computer and data. Acronis offers a lot of features for pro-users looking for an online backup service that’s more than a data depository. If you want simple, straightforward backup then go with a simpler, set-it-forget-it product. But if you are looking for the best of the best, Acronis True Image is your go to.
